The client was developing a medical device and needed to better understand their target population to inform R&D and go to market strategy.

The client had already collected data on the expected patient population, but the sample size and the data collected did not answer larger questions needed to further expand on product development and patient needs.
The company needed to quantify the demographics to confirm their hypothesis/definition of the population. It also need to frame a user centered profile to develop the product. -
We proposed running a nationally representative survey in collaboration with the company, using their Knowledge Panel, to better understand the patient populations demographics and psychographics.
The team decided to capture information about disease stage, preference for various product features and basic demographics like location, sex and age.
We ensured the questions could inform product development and marketing strategy. Which included base information for Regulatory, R&D, Marketing and Human Factors.

The survey provided high-confidence estimates of the target user population for various user profiles.
These data shaped the target population more specifically and scaffolded patient-centric FDA documentation need by R&D.
The data also inspired a number of future studies by defining like user needs and intended user groups.
